QCAR: The Spirit of the Kalendar!

2 comments:

  1. I saw Kalendar with a K and was expecting Russian Orthodoxy to come up :b
Great show, I was actually talking about this very subject this morning. My curiosity got the better of me and I went to my first Divine Liturgy. The service was 2 and a half hours long, and was as precise as a pocket watch. Afterward, someone brought out the point that all Christians have drawn from the Orthodox church in almost every way. He said that even though Baptists celebrate only a few holidays in the church (Christmas, Easter, Palm Sunday, Good Friday), that they still are in essence using a liturgical calendar.
One question I would have, is what is the best way to begin to get yourself immersed into the church calendar? What would be the barebones, calendar starter pack for someone who basically has only celebrated the 4 holidays listed above? Thanks a bunch!

  2. Hello Erik,

Thank you for commenting and for your question! The best way to get into it is to just start living it - the Daily Office and as many daily masses as you can get to is a good start. Sanctify each and every day with prayer, Word, and Sacrament.
